new CIC structure

this is gonna be long.
but please take time to concentrate and read it on.
cos its important.
thanks alot (:

yupp! as you can see on the sidebar.
we have gathered everyone into committees.
mainly by drawing lots. (:
turned out well i guess.

no more adhoc, yep, and publicity comms!

why a change?
as discussed, we figured that the existing structure we had in our year wasnt really an efficient one.
frankly speaking we haven achieved much out of it.
sooooo... (:
we're gearing up for a more efficient council! (:
in chinhao's words: "the push to be more recognised"

so now the structure.
4 committees basically. as shown on the sidebar.

  1. please meet up and discuss. online or whatever up to you all.
    and rename your own committee.
cos i believe everyone agrees that commitee a b and c sounds kinda bad rights. (:
naming is up to freewill. just basics guidelines like no vulgarities and all you know.
suggestion: it would be nice if the commitee names can end up starting with C, I, C for each you know (:
first come first serve for names. either tell chinhao or me or just update on the sidebar of the blog (:
please get this done before the new year starts k! pretty easy start working as a committee rights. (:

  2. not encouraged but if you wanna swop groups or something, it should be ok if you have a valid reason.

  3. there is no fixed structure within the committees. meaning no permanent committee head or sort.
and also there will be no differences between the committees. so each is independant on its own.
    to be explained further on.

let me now explain how it goes from here.
basically its very simple.
we'll take in projects as much as we can.
(unlike how we have rejected a good amount for the past year cos we couldnt manage)
and we'll leave each project to a committee to complete on its own.

meaning.
if a project comes in totally raw, without much guidelines.
the committee would plan it out, get the necessary paperwork done, and execute it on its own.
all its adhoc and publicity and stuff will be settled by the 5 members in the committee.
and if it is to be opened up to the school, the committee will have to see to it too.

if a project comes in only seeking participation.
the committee would then need to sort it out, and do the necessary, like gathering volunteers.
then sorting them and then volunteer management and stuff.

whatever way the project comes in, it will go to the committees the way it is.

the exco will be helping out with some admin stuff when necessary, like talking to the school and teachers and stuff.
and we'll be handling the juniors and all.
and we will be existing as a committee on its own also, taking in projects the same way.

roles in commitees in project:
when a project is adopted by a committee.
the committee, as a suggestion, should have its own i/c, secretary, treasurer, pub head, and sorts whichever applies.
so that it can better function.
the other roles are flexible, up to you all to decide.
but we definitely hope for an i/c selected asap when a project is adopted.
and the i/c person must change from project to project so that everyone gets a chance yeah (:
and for admin sake, the i/c please keep in touch and update the exco now and then when necessary.

projects:

  1. we wont be rejecting any project request for 2008 at all, but will just direct them to the committees to see how much we can handle. and we'll do as much as we can.
  2. aim: for each committee, at least one project per month.
  3. we're also planning to get consistent projects coming in.
just like the st stephens tutoring program we sorta had this 2007 (:

2008 juniors
as everyone knows, there is a change in system.
so next year theres gonna be only a 1 month thingy.
so its pretty messed up.
and we're still waiting for precise guidelines from the school.
roughly this is what we have for now.

  1. the juniors will adopt this new structure.
forming their own committees, then the seniors (us) committees will breakdown.
and we'll just assist the juniors along their way.

  2. we'll most prob adjust meeting days to wednesdays for juniors.
seniors remain on tues while we still have meetings.
juniors are to sit in for tues when needed.
seniors not compulsory for wed with valid reasons.

  3. aiming to get in 20 juniors, if the teachers permit.
cos they say our year having 20 causes trouble. oh well. (:

  4. exco will plan and handle the juniors selection and stuff, see what the school says first.

  5. we'll most probably have a march camp next year.
contents: unsure, till we get more precise understanding of how the juniors are gonna come in next year.

Council.
community involvement council
if anyone not knows that im gonna come knocking your head. (x
so yeahh.
we are a council. serving the school.
thats what we are supposed to do at least.
so we are now pushing to be more recognised by the school and all.
so what it means now is that.
we need everyone, meaning you! (:, to be super committed for the coming year.
and seriously.
its only gonna be a few months before we step down and leave everything.
so why not make it a good one? (:
im sure everyone wants to leave cic feeling established and know that cic is gonna soar further than ever. (:

so yeah.
some conduct advise:

  1. for all cic activities(exclude meetings), please wear cic shirt.
  2. when the cic badge is done, please have it on your uniform.
  3. ties to be worn full day on fridays. (:
  4. attendance to meetings is to be strictly adhered to
