Hey everyone! Here's the update for the mercy relief project
Now - 18 Feb : Amendments to proposal, preparation of booth, paper advertisements
18 Feb : Live advertisement (Earliest date available) - tentative till proposal approved
18 Feb – 9 March: Start collection(box to be left at booth(3 days) then at the cic board), booth to be set up in VJ(18/2 to 20/2) – J1s to man the booth
20 Feb : Call other JCs (HCI, MJC, TJC, TPJC, NJC) for permission to conduct the collection in their schools then send email as a follow up with more details of the project (Permission to use mercy relief letterhead is in the process of being sought)
17 March – 17 April : Pass project to other JCs and tell them the expected target of spectacles they should collect
April – May: Approach other remaining JCs (e.g. RJC) if our target is not met
May: Collection (Store in lockers) then send to Singapore Poly to repair before passing to Mercy Relief
Booth: Projects that Mercy Relief are involved, Pictures of the children with their spectacles, powerpoint
I’ll be meeting Eddie, the personnel from Mercy Relief, to clarify more details on the project on Monday(4/2) at tampines mall at 5pm. I’ll be leaving school at 4pm. If anyone is interested in going down with me, please drop me a message or just sms me so that I’ll know. Thanks :)

Hey there!
Tomorrow's meeting will be quite different from the norm:)
The J1s won't be having meeting tmr, pending their release of O'level results, which will be this Thursday. If you're J1 and reading this, all the best for your results!
For us J2s, The HFH (Habitat for Humanity) Committee will be going down to meet Hosea at the HFH Office, 56 Geylang Lorong 23 at 5pm (leave school 3.30pm) to discuss and plan Operation Homeworks and Build4Hope Vivocity.
After that the exco will meet Chin Seng ( Our senior) to find out more about SPLAT!, which is this project seeking our collaboration in. Anybody (J2s) who wants to join us do feel free to, since we're meeting him after HFH.
For the Mercy Relief Committee, I'll let you decide the time you want to meet tomorrow. If all of you end early it'll be better for all of you if you meet earlier. Just sms me the details when you've decided. And if you (J2s) want to join us at HFH, feel free to! :)

Trash to Gold latest update
Hi all.. this is my first post here.. anyway... I've contacted Singapore Polytechnic's Optometry Centre and they have directed me to a few professors.. Actually SP has been doing spectacles recycling project as well. they've been sending specs overseas for the needy.. so our project is not new to them. they've agreed to help me out. i should suppose is zero cost. however, their exam is nearing, after their exam they'll have a holiday that last for 2 months. so the professor in charge said that May will be a good time. i told them we are maybe targetting hundreds pair of specs.. he told me that they can finish in 2 hours or so.. well.. maybe before May.. we wanna consider some other items for trash to gold? Pls help us brainstorm on what other items are feasible for collection and recycling.. thanks.. that's all for now.. See u ll tommorow during CIC meeting.. yippie.. stay happy :D

Next Meeting
Will be this coming Tuesday, 15th January!
Venue: T13
For J2s only: we'll meet at 4pm.
We'll invite the J1s to join us at 5.30pm. Unfortunately, we've to start this late cause the J1s have 3rd period P.E, which ends at 5.25pm. For those of us who end school super early, we can meet earlier to study and chiong homework together:)
At 4, we'll review our plan for this year, then different committees will break up and discuss your separate projects. After that we'll prepare to welcome the J1s at 5.30pm. We want to make a good first impression.
We will be putting up announcements during morning assembly on monday and tuesday and will be calling up those who have put their names down during CCA Walkabout. And of course, put a notice on our CIC board.
Some of you have juniors who've indicated interest, so do invite them down at 5.30pm too! :)

Now for our collar pin, majority voted for the design above. It'll be a Gold collar pin. We're waiting for approval from the school and very soon we'll be wearing it on our uniform!

Happy New Year!
Its the year 2008!
Thats right, our final year in VJ. So lets make the best of it!
CIC meeting will resume next Tuesday, 8th January, Classroom T11, at 4.30pm. (Hopefully we can adjust it earlier depending on our new timetables)
Its our first meeting after restructuring, so everyone try your best to come.
This meeting will be for us JC2s only as it'll be for us to settle all our internal affairs, the new structure, our new projects etc.
We'll be inviting the JC1s to sit-in our meeting for introduction the following Tuesday, 15th January. You know what to tell your juniors during juniors-meet-seniors, orientation etc =p
To all taking R-papers, all the best!
